PEI cut its teeth working issues of ethics for a major supplier of high technology components to the automotive industry. The two PEI principals had little or no direct knowledge of the particular technology; moreover, we had no need to know, because our employees did their jobs well. We did not need to tell them how to do their jobs. We did need to address corporate culture and organization development. Background
What this firm asked us to do was help their employees, particularly managers andsupervisors, to communicate more effectively. By their own admission, they had more than enough room for improvement. They realized they were working moreas individuals and not as a team. Although they recognized this was less than par in terms of the corporate bottom line, they also knew they did not have the inhouse capability to fix this communications and teamwork problem. Our response was to provide a four-day course in team building, conflict management, negotiations, and other communications strategies and tactics--alltied to such ethical principles as respect for dignity of others, truth telling, promise keeping and respect for property. Feedback has been highly complimentary: "Well worth the money spent!" And, what we provide is also highly practical--material employees can pull from a file and refer to as they counsel and managethe performance of their teams; use writing and speaking techniques to convey accurately the messages they need to deliver (getting the desired results); and, employ effective communications approaches and techniques either in informal or in moreformal settings such as negotiations--getting the best possible outcomes whether dealing with fellow employees, customers or investors.
We can do the same kind of work--marrying ethics with communications--to make your employees really effective in the workplace. We release the boundaries of the cubicle! We pull people out from behind their computer monitors. We get employees seated face-to-face and we work with them to develop human relations and communications skills that will servethem for a lifetime. They get charged up. . . and we do too!
If you would like to open your channels of communications by focusing on what makes people work together and on what so easily can divide them, please contact us directly or email us.
